In 2025, our club member Andrea Kurdts from Dresden and our Kenyan project partner Jackson Odongo from Rusinga participated in the encounter project “ESD Practitioners ” going global” was part of the exchange program. The exchange was organized by the aid organization Arche Nova and KOEE (Kenyan Organization for Environmental Education). Over a period of one year, the twelve participants engaged in an intensive exchange on the topic of “Education for Sustainable Development” (ESD).
The aim is to exchange knowledge, methods and perspectives across different cultural and professional contexts, to implement youth exchange projects and thereby integrate sustainable development into long-term work with children and young people.
And it’s already working. Three schools on Rusinga , which have already distinguished themselves through exemplary activities, are now receiving special support from KOEE and are being included in the international Program African Regional Resilience Initiative on Climate Education (ARRICE).
