Thanks to the intensive support of our partners Ramanus and Jackson, rows of bushes and trees have grown in suitable places on the eroded school grounds. Now the children at Eddie Memorial School have some shade.
However, the broken fence continues to pose a threat to further planting. At the turn of the year 2024-2025, an opportunity arose to purchase fresh soil from road construction. 600 tonnes were transported to the hill in 30 dump truck loads and two larger areas were fenced in. The fence was installed by the Real Boys on a voluntary basis. With the onset of the rainy season, the pupils planted the first 300 seedlings. The school garden area is intended for vegetables.
We hope that many of the seedlings will survive the dry season.
