Not just football and not just the boys, but also the REAL STARLETS!
During the last holidays, in addition to the sports programme, there were workshops on health topics and, of course, trees were planted again.
Now, in August, the focus was on environmental protection and sustainable waste management. This is a topic that has become acute ‘thanks’ to the sharp increase in packaging waste.
The two-day workshop was attended by 33 members of the Real Boys and 14 other young people, volunteers from the community and young entrepreneurs with an interest in environmental sustainability. Alvin Omondi, founder and chairman of the LEWMO organisation in Nairobi, shared his knowledge about climate change, waste separation and environmental protection strategies. The young people developed small action plans to implement in their schools and communities.
A new initiative and a successful start. Consistent environmental education in local schools, strengthening environmental clubs and developing a sense of responsibility are the challenges ahead.
The Real Boys are not only athletes, but also environmental activists.
